Field research in the former ghetto | Workshop in Chișinău, 3rd day

11-10-2020 | Alexandru Bejenaru

The third day of the introductory seminar in the context of the Digital Project «Measuring Ghettos: Grodno – Cernăuți – Chișinău» was focused on the work in the field. Divided into three smaller groups with specific goals of work, the young participants from the Republic of Moldova went to the territory of the former Chișinău Ghetto for a more detailed investigation of these places. As a part of these activities, some of the students visited the Monument of Chișinău Ghetto victims, made a lot of photos and familiarized themselves with the territory, where they will work for the following weeks. At the same time, another group of participants focused on finding and visiting the stumbling stones installed in Chișinău – the brass plates, that are installed right into the pavement near the houses of the Holocaust victims.

The obtained results during the day on the work field were discussed by the young participants together with Galina Corman, the coordinator of the project in the Republic of Moldova, Ion Cheptene, the expert IT, and Alexandru Bejenaru, responsible for public relations. The students identified main directions and objectives for their microprojects, being ready to utilize all newly acquired knowledge during the previous days of the introductory seminar and to realize the three microprojects until the second half of November 2020.
