«Measuring Ghettos: Grodno – Cernăuți – Chișinău» is the title of the international digital project, the start of which took place on the 9th of October 2020. In all those three cities 20 students from Ukraine, Belarus and Moldova gathered to find out more about the ghettos in their countries. In Chişinău, at the Faculty of History and Philosophy, Moldova State University, 9 young participants have met each other, the majority of which study History. They made acquaintances with their colleagues from Ukraine, Belarus and Germany, presenting at the same time their personal motivations to take part in this project.
During the first day of the introductory seminary, the participants listened to the presentations of Mykola Kusnir, the director of the Chernivtsi Museum of Bukovinian Jewish History and Culture (Chernivtsi), about the phenomenon of «collective memory» and Galina Corman, the coordinator of the project in Moldova, about the culture of memory and its local specifics of Holocaust history in Bessarabia. The evening concluded with the idea, that in the history of Republic of Moldova there are still many unclear moments, such as the history of Holocaust.
